How did this come to our attention?
Kakuma Refugee Camp is home to over 252,066 refugees, making it a city of hope and resilience, yet only a small fraction have access to spaces where they can learn, dream, and build a better future.
In Kakuma Refugee Camp, about 2500 Refugee Youths Graduate from Secondary school each year but have limited access to Tertiary Education due to limited funds only 5% of these are given access to Universities and Colleges through Scholarships but the rest go back to the community, and the result of the economic backdrop, Idleness, Hopelessness they end up getting involved in unconstructive Practices like Crimes, Early and Forced Marriages. So in order to address this issue Generation Aid Provides an environment for training the Youth and connecting them with employers to boost their Financial stability.
Refugee Youths face immense barriers to employment and integration into the global economy but at Generation Aid, through Digital Generation Jobs Hub we can change that. we’re giving refugees the tools they need to rewrite their stories and shine.. But we can’t do it alone.
The ” Digital Generation Jobs Hub” is an initiative designed to empower refugees residing in the Kakuma refugee camp by providing them with the necessary infrastructure and resources to work as a remote job agency. The hub will function as a collaborative workspace where refugees can access digital tools, high-speed internet, and a stable electricity supply to offer remote work services (not as freelancers) to employers worldwide. By equipping refugees with the tools and skills needed to engage in the global gig economy, this project aims to foster economic independence, skill development, and a sense of community among participants.
The hub will be a dedicated office and classroom space equipped with laptops, high-speed internet via Starlink, and a reliable power supply powered by solar energy. This space will not only serve as a work environment but also as a training center where refugees can learn about various aspects of remote jobs, including platform navigation, client communication, project management, and digital marketing. The ultimate goal is to create a sustainable remote work agency operated by skilled refugees, generating income and improving their overall quality of life and empowering Generation Aid to deliver more needed skills.
